The fixed filterbank section of the Spectralis 2 has 8 bandpasses, plus a High-Pass and a Low-Pass Filter.
As the level of the individual filter frequencies can be controlled dynamically, you can generate completely unusual sounds.

Many real instruments, due to the construction of their resonance
body do not have a consistent volume level or sound color across
their whole playable range. The body usually emphasizes one or more
frequency ranges of the generated overtone structure and suppresses
others. This is what gives instruments their particular sound,
which changes depending in what range the instrument is being
played. The emphasized sections of the spectrum are being called
formants. Using the Filterbank you can create such formants.
A very special natural instrument is the human voice, as its
"body" can be adjusted in size and shape. With the help of this
capability, it is possible to form the various vowels (a,e,i,o,u)
with your throat using the resonance of the vocal chords. Due to
its dynamic control the Filterbank of the Spectralis has the
ability to vary the emphasis of the different frequency ranges. In
principle the signal routed through the filterbank becomes the
vocal chord and the filterbank itself is the resonance "body".
