What are the chances of getting the Overdub implemented through a crowdfunding campaign? If Spectralis had overdubbing it would make it a song-writing powerhouse! It's still of course an incredible tool for song-making, but overdubbing would really send it into the stratosphere creatively.  Ah well... 😀

Crowd-funding or a paid update-I would to agree to either of those options or both. Spectralis is such am amazing instrument. All this new stuff out there to choose and Spectralis is still one of the very best ever made in terms of design, function and sound imo 👍 ❤️ 👍

Another function I'd like to see fixed is the SD card slot.

Overdub would be sweet - but I personally can work around it.

My big thing would be paraphonic mode with the 4 oscillators thru a filter. That would be the most amazing thing ever.

Sorry - not trying to ruin your parade. I would consider paying the developer/Jörg $1000 USD for that upgrade, I am not even kidding. Best sounding hybrid synth engine ever.

All good man, we all have different ways of thinking and working with our instruments 🙂 .

I'm not  good keys player so overdub would help me get more motifs in the Speckie sequencer instead of having to use an external sequencer.

How do you work around it? I usually work with 4-8 bar patterns while working on song arrangements and playing a chord progression over those length always results in mistakes for me-sometimes I get it right over 4 bars but very seldom with 8 lol.

If Spectralis had something like note, or chord learn I wouldn't need overdub. Note/chord learn would work like this- I hold down a step then play my note or chord (up to 6 notes) and that step would hold that note or chord in the sequencer memory. Like a lot of people my programming prowess for musical phrases and percussion rhythms majorly supersedes my playing in real-time.

I'm absolutely positive that if a Spectralis 1&2 OS update was a crowd-funding campaign- and all of the promised features (as stated in the manual) and your excellent idea of paraphonic oscillators were implemented, ALL the Speckie owners would pay for the update. We'd raise the money in no time.

Okay, now I see that Speckie does have a MIDI note learn function in single-step editor as per Section 3.5.5 on page 73 of the manual, but it doesn't mention chords so I guess I'm still out of luck with that.

My only workaround is to just keep re-recording, lol. Eventually - I get it.

There is a chord motif section, use "ChordRec" mode and you can just input the chords, and then you only need to press a key during recording to sequence these, it's pretty simple. I'm pretty sure you could also put single notes in alongside these if you wanted. It's maybe not ideal, but definitely read up on it in the manual (here).

I have high doubts that we will see any future updates - but of course I'd love to see it. The Spectralis I and II are getting old. I think the II was released in 2009? Something like that? Anyway, yeah, I'd gladly pay quite a bit of money to update it, especially for a paraphonic mode. Oh well.

Yeah I know we won't see anymore updates... It just bothers the heck out of me to see an 'Overdub' section on the panel and it doesn't do anything? Overdub would have made it a dream machine...it's still awesome, but once in a awhile it gives me daymares- like I said lol.

About the chord input...do you have any idea how many notes I can have in a chord? Does it accept the chord all at once or do we have to add one note at a time and then it plays back as a chord? I've read the manual, trust me, but it still isn't clear to me. Thanks:)

I'm not sure. I think you have to add all notes at the same time, otherwise it moves to the next 'chord' - but it's relatively easy to test out. You can't break anything by testing... well, not that I know of.
